The Case of the Missing
Designer
Let this be made clear from the start:
There is no excuse
for any designer (be it graphic, web or whatever) to not respond
to their clients. That is being plain unprofessional and we
are in NO WAY defending them.
What we are trying to do here is to explain
why such things happen and how we can aviod them.
Reasons for missing designers:
- exam time
- too many commitments
- close down
Exam Time
Some of our clients used to engage students
to help them with their website. We will encourage you to
do that if you have a modest budget, your web development
is fairly simple, you do not require prompt support and you
will not be expecting any legal issues pertaining to your
webiste.
Responsible students can be creative and
help to get a site up and running. However, a student's main
role is to study and the will have to give that priority.
So if you use students, be prepared that for 4 months in a
year (2 months near mid year and 2 months near the end) they
will be concentrating on their major examiniation preparations
and may not be able to respond to you quickly.
Too Many Commitments
As we have mentioned before, through our
experience we realised that:
Cheap does
not always mean good.
Base on the laws of economics, there are
two ways to increase profits. One - sell quality stuff at
a premium; and Two - sell dirt cheap but increase sales volume.
One common reason for designers to go missing
is because they have too many commitments. Because when you
sell cheap and increase volume, you will have a very large
customer base to service, if your revenue does not allow to
to grow, you will have to support them all at the existing
headcount.
Close Down
Sometimes design firms close down. Especially
those that do not earn enough to pay their bills. At äxuberant,
we believe in delivering premium and quality designs, we will
rather be around when the time comes for you to revamp or
upgrade your website.
So if you deal with us, you can expect quality
service and prompt replies.
We will not definately not go missing. If you have
a maintenance agreement with us.
